What is this club?

Oulun Arctic Tigers Ry is a community-based sports and social club primarily founded by members of the Bangladeshi community living in Oulu, Finland. The club is dedicated to promoting physical well-being, mental health, and social connection through sports and cultural engagement. While rooted in the Bengali community, the club is open to people of all backgrounds who share an interest in sports, cultural exchange, and community building.

Background of the establishment

The club was founded by Md Helal Hossain, who also serves as its President. Under his leadership, an initial group of 18 football enthusiasts came together to establish a sports-based social platform. Their initial goal was to create a registered organization that would allow them to continue playing together regularly, particularly in indoor facilities. Over time, this initiative grew into a broader platform aimed at bringing the Bengali community together through organized sports and shared social activities.

What activities does the club arrange?

Oulun Arctic Tigers Ry organizes a wide range of activities, including:

  • Regular sports activities, particularly football
  • Social and community gatherings
  • Cultural celebrations and events
  • Observance of major cultural and Bangladeshi national occasions such as Eid, Pahela Baishakh, Victory Day, International Mother Language Day, and other community events

How is the club operated?

Oulun Arctic Tigers Ry is operated by an elected Executive Committee. Committee members are chosen annually through a democratic voting process by the club’s members. The Executive Committee is responsible for planning activities, managing operations, and overseeing the overall direction of the club.

 

The club is financially sustained through membership fees and sports participation fees, ensuring smooth operations and independence.
